Who I am

Vikram Mohan ("I", "me") is the controller of the personal data collected through vikrammohan.com. I am a sole practitioner based in London, United Kingdom. Contact: through the contact form on this site.

What this site collects

The contact form

The form sends me your email address and your message, and your name if you give it. The service that handles the form may also record the time and your IP address to filter spam. You do not have to contact me, but I cannot reply without an email address.

Website analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, an analytics service records the pages you view, the site that referred you, your device and browser, and your approximate location. It does not tell me who you are. Before you accept, or if you choose "Essential only", no analytics cookies are set. Limited data that is not linked to a cookie, such as the page viewed, may still be sent to the analytics service.

Security and hosting

The providers that host and protect this site process your IP address, browser details and the pages you request, in order to deliver the site and keep it safe. A bot-protection check runs on the contact form. The site's font is loaded from a third-party font service, which receives your IP address when it serves the font.

Why I use it and the lawful basis

  • Contact form: to answer your enquiry. This is based on my legitimate interests in replying or, if you ask about working with me, on taking steps at your request before a contract.
  • Analytics: to improve the site. Analytics cookies rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. The limited cookieless data relies on my legitimate interests.
  • Security and hosting: to deliver the site and keep it safe from abuse, based on my legitimate interests.

I do not make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Who receives it

Your data is handled by the service providers I use to run this site and reply to you. They act on my instructions as processors:

  • a form-handling service, which passes your message to my mailbox;
  • my email and office platform, where your message is stored;
  • the website hosting, security and bot-protection provider;
  • an analytics provider, whose cookies are set only with your consent.

Information may also be processed by other services I use for the purpose of delivering this site and responding to you. Details of the providers in use at any time are available on request through the contact form. No one else receives your data unless the law requires it.

Where it is stored and international transfers

Some of these providers are based in the United States or process data there. Where a provider is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the transfer from the UK relies on that certification. Otherwise it relies on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses. Ask through the contact form for details.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries: as long as I need to deal with them, and up to 24 months after our last contact.
  • Analytics: up to 14 months.
  • Hosting and security logs: the provider's own short retention period.

Cookies and your choices

By default this site uses only essential storage, which is strictly necessary and does not need your consent:

  • the hosting and bot-protection provider may set short-lived technical cookies for security;
  • vm_consent, in your browser's local storage, remembers your cookie choice for 12 months. After that, I ask again.

Analytics cookies are set only after you select "Accept" in the banner:

  • _ga tells visitors apart. It lasts 2 years.
  • _ga_* keeps the state of your visit. It lasts 2 years.

This site does not use advertising cookies and does not sell personal data.

To change your choice, use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. If you withdraw consent, no further analytics cookies are used, and you can delete existing ones in your browser settings.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • have it corrected (rectification);
  • have it erased;
  • restrict how I use it;
  • object to my use of it where I rely on legitimate interests;
  • receive it in a portable format (portability).

Some rights apply only in certain circumstances. To use them, send a message through the contact form. I will normally reply within one month.
